Our commitment
Refrigeration units contain refrigerant gases and insulating foams that can harm the ozone layer and the climate if they are not handled correctly. Our commitment is simple: zero to landfill, and every unit traced from collection to treatment.
Licensing
We are a registered waste carrier with the Environment Agency (registration CBDU000000). We only deliver waste to permitted, approved treatment facilities, and much of our treatment is carried out by a trusted partner facility we work with closely and audit regularly.
Duty of care
For every collection we provide:
- A waste transfer note, or a hazardous waste consignment note where fridges, freezers or ODS panels are involved.
- Correct EWC codes for each waste stream.
- A certificate of recycling on request, confirming the treatment facility used.
Refrigeration and ODS
Fridges, freezers and cold room panels containing ozone-depleting substances (ODS) are treated as hazardous waste. They are transported upright, kept intact to prevent gas release, and processed at facilities that recover refrigerants and blowing agents under controlled conditions.
WEEE Regulations
All electrical items are handled in line with the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Regulations 2013, with materials such as metals and plastics recovered for reuse wherever possible.
Reducing our impact
We plan routes to combine collections, minimise empty miles from our Buckinghamshire base, and maintain our vehicles to keep emissions low.
